Salt Lake County Home Prices Rise 7%
The Enterprise, Utah's Business Journal recently ran a story about the increase in home prices of existing homes in Salt Lake County.  The President of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors was quoted in the article.  "January's increase is significant because it did not include housing incentives like the $8,000 federal tax credit.  This shows Salt Lake City's economy in continuing to make a comeback."

Mortgage Interest Deduction on the Chopping Block
Yep, congress is considering eliminating the "Mortgage Interest Deduction".  This action would bring an end to the tax benefit for home ownership.  The National Association of Home Builders posted some resources to help homeowners fight the demise of this benefit.  Here are a few ways you can get involved.

Utah Building Permits on the Rise
The Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) at the David Eccles School of Business reports that the number of single-family home permits issued in Utah for the first-quarter is up 110 percent over the first quarter of 2009.  In the first quarter of 2010, the State of Utah has issued 1,522 new home building permits.
